This Was the Hardest Day of My Round the World Voyage so Far

After almost four weeks at anchor in Campbeltown, it’s finally time for Bambola and me to move on, further North. I’ll admit it—I was a little nervous. It had been weeks since I’d hoisted the mainsail, and I wondered if everything would come back as naturally as before. Thankfully, Bambola looked after me, and with the wind gradually filling in, we enjoyed a beautiful day’s sailing along Scotland’s stunning west coast. With the boat sailing herself so effortlessly, I found myself with something sailors often get plenty of… time to think. At first, my thoughts were full of gratitude. How lucky am I to be living this adventure? To wake up every day on my own yacht and explore places I’d only dreamed of visiting. But then my thoughts took an unexpected turn. For the first time since setting off, the reality of what I’d left behind caught up with me. I found myself missing my partner and her two little dogs more than I expected. Adventure always comes at a price, and sometimes you don’t realise what that price is until you’re alone at sea. Join me as Bambola sets sail once again, with calm seas, beautiful Scottish scenery, and a reminder that every dream has its emotional moments too. If you’ve ever chased a dream that meant leaving something—or someone—you loved behind, I’d love to hear your story in the comments. ⛵ If you’re enjoying the journey aboard Bambola, please consider subscribing and joining us for the next leg of the adventure. #SoloSailing #SailingLife #Scotland #Liveaboard #SailingAdventure #Moody36 #BoatLife #WestCoastScotland #Adventure #SaltAndPepperSailor Confidence level: 96%.
