The Doctor Could Not Heal Herself In The Same Environment That Was Harming Her: Sound Familiar?
Black Women have often asked me over the years — "Can you tell me how to heal while working in this toxic job?" And my answer is always the same — You cannot fully heal in the environment that is harming you. But what happens when the person asking that question is a medical doctor? A Black Woman who spent her career healing other people —and found herself in toxic work environments that were slowly taking everything from her? Today I am sitting down with Dr. Pamela Buchanan —Physician, Founder of Strong MD, Toxic Job Survivor, and one of the Panelists at the 3rd Annual Job Liberation Virtual Summit for Black Women™ —which is happening in less than one week. And she is going to tell her story. In this conversation we will discuss: ✔️ What toxic work actually looks like inside the medical field — and why Black Women in medicine are not exempt ✔️ The moment Dr. Buchanan recognized the environment was harming her and what that recognition actually felt like ✔️ What her healing journey has looked like —and what she knows now that she wishes she had known sooner ✔️ A preview of what she will be sharing on the Summit panel about healing from toxic work — just enough to give you a taste of what is coming ✔️ Why healing cannot begin until you are out of or actively planning to exit the environment that is causing the harm This video is for you if —you are a Black Woman in any profession — medicine, corporate, education, government, or entertainment — who has been asking yourself — "How do I heal while I am still inside this?" Or if you have already left and you are realizing that the real work of healing is just beginning. The Summit Is In Days. Not Weeks. Dr. Buchanan is one of 28 Black Women Speakers at the 3rd Annual Job Liberation Virtual Summit for Black Women™. She is joining a panel specifically focused on healing from toxic work —because the exit plan is just the beginning. Your nervous system deserves to recover. Your identity deserves to be reclaimed. And your healing deserves a community that understands exactly what you have been through. But here is what you need to know right now —May 1st is days away.
