Organic Quail #6: Free Ranging (week 2)
The six quail chicks are doing amazing with their broody hen Henrietta! She is keeping them warm and helping them find food. We moved them out to the quail hut at 1 week old, but did add an additional interior enclosure of hardware cloth as two little quail at briefly sneaked out. Over this second week they have been doing great, even when the temperature got down to 33 degrees! At two weeks I attempted to let them free range during the afternoon with Henrietta. And guess what...it worked! How amazing! We will see how things change as they age.
