A church and a fortress in one place? Sounds a bit abstract, doesn't it? Yet, in Romania, in Transylvania, such structures actually exist—and what's more, some of them have even been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In this episode, we visit three extraordinary fortified churches: Viscri, Hărman, and Prejmer. We investigate why massive defensive walls were built around the churches, where residents took refuge during invasions, and whether entering the medieval towers is truly... at your own risk.
