The 48-miles of river from Buford Dam at Lake Lanier to Paces Mill in Smyrna is cold, oxygen-rich water, perfect for Trout. RAINBOW TROUT: The most common catch. Over 300,000 are stocked annually, and fish in the 12-21" range are regularly caught, and are delicious if you're hungry. BROWN TROUT: These fish thrive in the colder, faster currents closer to the dam. They grow large, naturally reproduce, and are known to be predatory. These fish are considered Trophies, so Catch and Release if you're lucky enough to catch one.
