DESFILE de JUVENTUD en BAKÚ, la capital de AZERBAIYÁN

Azerbaijan is a nation located in the Caucasus region between Europe and Asia, with a population of approximately 10 million people. Its capital and largest city, Baku, has around two million inhabitants and is the economic and cultural centre of the country. Azerbaijan has a young population, with an average age of about 32 years, which gives it a vibrant and dynamic energy. The majority of the population is ethnic Azeri and the official language is Azerbaijani, although Russian and English are common in urban areas and among the younger generations. Azerbaijan's economy depends largely on the export of oil and gas, which account for the majority of its income and have allowed it to grow significantly in recent decades. This resource-rich country has a GDP of around $74 billion, and its per capita income is around $7,400. In recent years, Azerbaijan has diversified its economy to reduce its dependence on oil, investing in sectors such as tourism, agriculture and information technology. In terms of religion, Azerbaijan is a predominantly Muslim country, with about 97% of the population identifying as Muslim, although the country is officially secular. The majority of Azerbaijani Muslims are Shia, but the religious environment is quite tolerant and secular, with freedoms for other religions and a low level of religious influence in political life. The secular approach to religion allows for peaceful coexistence between different religious groups and maintains an open and welcoming atmosphere for visitors from all over the world. Azerbaijan has a developing infrastructure and an educational system that ensures literacy for almost 100% of the population. Life expectancy is around 73 years, and health and education systems are accessible, although challenges remain in rural areas. Thanks to its energy reserves, diverse culture, and focus on modernization, Azerbaijan continues to move forward as a nation that combines its traditions with a progressive vision for the future. Azerbaijan has a complex geopolitical position due to its location in the Caucasus, between Europe and Asia, and its history as a former Soviet republic. Its relationship with neighboring countries varies markedly; with Russia, it maintains close economic and security ties, given Russia’s historical influence in the region. However, its approach is balanced, as it also cultivates relations with Turkey, a close ally due to their shared cultural and linguistic roots. The relationship with Armenia, however, has been complicated by the conflict around Nagorno-Karabakh, an Armenian-majority region that claimed autonomy. This conflict led to tensions and intermittent armed clashes for decades, but the 2020 peace agreement, brokered by Russia, sought to reduce violence in the area. In terms of international relations, Azerbaijan has sought to diversify its alliances and become an economic and cultural bridge between East and West. The country is part of initiatives such as the Southern Gas Corridor, which provides natural gas to Europe, reinforcing its role as a key energy supplier to the continent. In addition, Azerbaijan participates in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and maintains active diplomatic ties with the United States, the European Union, and China, among others. On a global level, Azerbaijan tries to project itself as a modern and stable nation that promotes dialogue and multicultural understanding. It holds international events, such as the Formula 1 Baku Grand Prix and cultural festivals, to attract tourism and strengthen its image in the world. Its foreign policy is pragmatic, seeking to balance economic and security interests, and maintain constructive relations with various actors in the international arena. One of the symbols of Baku is the Heydar Aliyev Center, a spectacularly designed building created by architect Zaha Hadid, famous for its structure without right angles and its fluid lines. This center is an important cultural space that hosts exhibitions and events, and has become one of the most recognized images of the city. #openyourwindowtotheworld #TravelingIsHyperliving 🌎 Subtitles in Portuguese, Italian, German, French, Russian and English. 🔎 I am Gustavo Llusá, Argentine, after traveling for several years through more than 75 countries I settled in Latvia where I married Dace and learned to know another way of life, on the other side of the map.
