Cheapest Tree Climbing Harness

I made a video a while ago where I suggested some gear that I would recommend for someone with a tight budget who is just getting into tree work. In that video all of the gear I suggested was big name brand gear and I just recommended the lower tier of that gear. Which, even the mid lower end of saddles is still a huge sticker shock for someone just getting into the career. I know I felt it when I saved up for my first saddle. A lot of people who watched that budget video felt the same way and were upset that I didn’t offer a cheaper suggestion. So, in this video I set out to find what I thought would be a good and safe option for less than $100. There are many harnesses available out there that are made in China and feel difficult to trust, so I tried to pick through them and find one that had done all the correct documentation and offered a quality product. This led me to the SOB Tree Climbing Harness, it was marked with the correct EN markings and had good customer feedback and photos. For the price you pay you sure get a lot, but something that’s $50 emulating something that’s $400+ is definitely going to leave a lot to be desired. After trying it out I would strongly recommend not cutting this corner, saving and spending the money to get a quality saddle is worth it. A saddle is the base of your climbing kit and makes the biggest difference for your daily comfort. If all you have is $50 and you really want a saddle, this is the best I could find.
