Nepals Toughest Trek -The Tashi Lapcha Pass and Rolwaling Valley

The hardest and toughest trek is undoubtedly the Tashi Lapcha at one 5755m. The trek starts by passing through the stunning and rarely visited Rolling Valley and is truly one of the more beautiful treks in Nepal. Rolwaling Valley is also known as “The Hidden Gem of the Himalayas”, an is situated in the Dolkha District of Nepal.It is close to the close to the Tibetan border. The Rolling valley lies directly to the west of the Khumbu region which is a stark contrast with its much busier intake of tourists. On this trek I did not see a single other tourist for its whole duration until I got to the Khumbu region And it is surrounded by the Gaurishankar Himal (7,134 m) and other snow-capped peaks. The highlight of the trek is the passing over the TASHI LAPCHA pass which is quite a serious undertaking given and as you can see from the video requires technical climbing equipment, which you must take if you area going to complete it in a safe manner. The trek when I completed it followed the following itinerary and it would be difficult to do it any other way unless you took camping equipment. 1. Day 1 - Chchetchhet to Simi. 2. Day 2 - Simi to Dokhang. 3. Day 3 - Dokhang to Beding. 4. Day 4 - Being to Na ( you could stop here ) to Toso Rolpo Lake . 5. Day 5 - Toso Rolpo Lake to David Lama Biwak shelter ( metal box ). 6. Day 6 - David Lama Biwak over the Tashi Lapcha Pass and down to Ngole. 7. Day 7 - Ngole to Thame. 8. Day 8 - Thame to Monjo. 9. Day 9 - Monjo to Lukla. 10. Day 10 - Lukla to Kathmandu. Asa you proceed along the trek you come across Tsho Rolpa (also Cho Rolpa) is one of the biggest glacial lakes in Nepal. The lake itself is located at an impressive altitude of 4,580 metres (15,030 ft) in the Rolwaling Valley and is one of the highest such lakes in Nepal. On this trek I took my guide Jangs Bung who was a very strong and helpful guide along with the fabulous porter Chandra, I would not advise carrying out this trek on your own due to its remoteness and lack of support in case of an emergency.
