Deadline reports that Annapurna Pictures and Plan B Entertainment have acquired the rights to the story of the New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey and their investigation into the Weinstein scandal. The Deadline story stresses that the film is being compared to Spotlight. THR reports that Gary Dauberman, the writer behind the first two Annabelle movies will also write the third installment and make his directing debut on the picture. New Line is fast-tracking the third Annabelle movie for a July 3, 2019 release date. Variety reports that Michelle Pfeiffer is in advanced talks to play the queen in Maleficent 2 opposite Angelina Jolie. Deadpool actor Ed Skrein joined as the sequel’s villain. Jolie and Elle Fanning are both set to reprise their roles for Maleficent 2. Pirates of the Caribbean director Joachim Ronning is set to helm the sequel. A featurette for Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story was released by Disney yesterday featuring new footage with a new behind the scenes look. The film features Hail, Caesar‘s Alden Ehrenreich as Han, with Atlanta‘s Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and The Force Awakens‘ Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
