How to Secure the Right SEN Support for Your Child in School with Eva Akins, Education Lawyer
During our first workshop in Sen Talk's education law series, Eva provides an overview of key issues such as SEN Support, EHCPs, Appeals and Reasonable Adjustments. Eva Akins is an education lawyer and partner at top 100 law firm Russell-Cooke. Eva specialises in championing the rights of disabled and other marginalised children, ensuring they receive education provision and placements that enable them to thrive and those that discriminate against them are held to account. It is Eva's personal experience of special needs, disability and exclusion as both a pupil and SEN parents that fuels her passion for this area of legal work. Eva will be collaborating with SEN Talk to conduct a series of workshops designed to empower parents and upskill professionals to overcome and problem solve challenges they face when things go wrong. Eva advises on special educational needs, Equality Act claims, admissions, exclusions, complaints, transport, school governance, child protection, EOTAS and covid related issues in education. Eva is ranked as a star associate in Chambers UK (2020), The Legal 500 (2020) and is regularly called upon by the media, including BBC News and Radio, for expert opinion on topical education issues.
