Paka Chay Kamanawa & Rora Varinawa - Pavere

🌿 Meet Paka Kamãnawa and Rora Varinawa of the Noke Koi People 🌿 Paka is the chief of the Timbaúba Village on the Gregorio River in the region of Acre in the Brazilian Amazon. This young leader carries the responsibility for 43 Noke Koi people and was recently elected president of the Noke Koi Association, which oversees five villages throughout the Gregorio River territory. As a dedicated healer and activist, Paka works tirelessly to preserve and reinvigorate the ancestral wisdom and culture of his people. He has transcribed 63 original ancestral Noke Koi chants to guitar – including this one you’re hearing – receiving these melodies through his divine connection with the medicine and the spiritual realm. Rora, his wife, is a powerful force of feminine leadership in their community. She broke barriers as the first woman to study and partake in traditional diets in their culture and lineage. Her courage and strength are inspiring women throughout the community to use their voices and join the movement, elevating women’s empowerment in both cultural and political spheres. This beautiful moment was captured during our first gathering in Costa Rica this past May at the magical Brave Earth.
