What made this SLR so different? A vintage Canon EOS that feels more like Today's Modern Mirrorless

When I'm doing film street photography I don't want to interrupt the scene with loud shutter noises, and I want to be able to snap instantly...without a laggy shutter. But I'm loathe to trade the what-you-see-is-what-you-get of an SLR for the "hit-and-hope" of a rangefinder. What's the solution? Well, in this video I try out a possible "best of both worlds" in the shape of the Canon EOS RT. This SLR has a pellicle mirror instead of a flip-up glass one, which means no "mirror slap", no "blackout", and pretty much instant shutter release. It sounds too good be true. But is it? I picked up a used model from eBay for under £40 and took it out on the streets of Manchester to see what I could do with it. I talk a bit about the pros and cons, show examples shot with the camera, and discuss street photography in general. I hope this video is entertaining and informative. #canoneos #streetphotography #filmphotography #analogcamera #35mmcamera #improveyourphotography #rangefinder #RT #vintagecamera #documentaryphotography
