Mazda Transmission Fluid & Filter Service (6 Speed SkyActiv FZ Fluid)

In this video, we service the transmission on my brother's 2017 Mazda 3. However, this exact same 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission (FW6A-EL) is used across almost the entire Mazda lineup. This procedure is identical for (according to Gemini): Mazda 3 (2012 - 2025+) Mazda 6 (2014 - 2021) Mazda CX-5 (2013 - 2025+) Mazda CX-3 & CX-30 Mazda CX-9 (2016 - 2023) Note: Your specific model might have a slightly different plastic underbody splash shield or airbox layout to remove, but the actual transmission pan, filter replacement, and fluid requirements are exactly the same. ⚠️ CRITICAL INFO: This transmission MUST use Mazda Genuine ATF FZ fluid (the blue stuff). Do not use standard multi-vehicle ATF. Also, keep in mind that we let this transmission drip for a long time while the pan was off, so it took a full 5 quarts to refill.
