Fire - Basadi ba Mintsu

Basadi ba Mintsu is a collective of African, Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban women who come together to celebrate art and their ancestry through their musicality, uniting elements and sounds of traditional African music (with mbiras, guitars, violin and percussion). The members of Basadi's musical and poetic escape are, Beauty Sitoe (Mozambique) Ekaterine James (Cuba), Serati (South Africa) and Yuru Yayungai (Brazil). Using the metaphor of the elements and cycles of nature as a symbol of female fertility and creation, they blend their diverse musical and cultural origins with the common ground they share: their African ancestry. A celebrate of sisterhood and a tribute to the women that came before, Basadi ba Mintsu, is translated as "women of roots". At the concert, they present African folk songs, poetry, Brazilian and Cuban spirituals, and original compositions by the collective. Video shot by Cura Crua (Instagram @curacrua)   / curacrua_
