Deel 1:💥Rembrandt dagen feesten💥Leiden 💥Rembrandt van Rijn💥Leiden

Rembrandt van Rijn Days in Leiden. Visitors are always warmly welcome in beautiful Leiden, and especially during the Leiden Rembrandt Days. Leiden is proud of Rembrandt, and we wanted everyone to know it. That is why, on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2024, the entire Pieterswijk and Academiewijk districts were transformed into the 17th century, creating the most authentic 17th-century atmosphere possible, complete with several hundred actors and extras, historical props, and other requisites from that era. In short, a Grand Historical Theatre was staged. Visitors were already put in the right mood on the way there. At the site of Rembrandt's birthplace, along the route through his old district, and across the Rapenburg, visitors encountered surprising events before finally arriving in the Pieterswijk. For this event, more than four hundred people were willing to organize themselves into groups that sew costumes, build sets, materials, and props, and actors and extras who write, direct, and rehearse plays and dramas. They were all volunteers—Leiden volunteers, mind you—for from now on, they paid their famous fellow townsman an annual tribute with passion through the Leiden Rembrandt Days. Pieters- and Academiewijk The Pieters- and Academiewijk, next to the Rapenburg, the most famous canal in the world, is built around the Gravensteen and the Pieterskerk. Both were built in the 15th century, while the Pieterskerk was already a chapel in the 12th century. It was the chapel of the Counts of Holland, who had their domicile there, with Count Floris V being the most famous of them all. Four hundred years later, Rembrandt van Rijn also walked around in that district to go to his Latin School or the Pieterskerk, and to pick up his friend Jan Lievens in the Pieterskerkchoorsteeg. Rembrandt also learned the painting trade from Jacob van Swanenburg just a little further away in that old part of the city. Perhaps his studio was even in the Pieterswijk, but we have still not found any serious evidence for that.
