Why Modern Israel is NOT Biblical Israel

Is the modern state of Israel the same Israel we read about in Scripture? Ted Cruz went on Tucker Carlson's podcast and made the claim that yes, Modern Israel is the Israel from the Bible. But when I read the Bible and what it actually says, it challenged everything I thought I knew regarding this question. As someone who grew up in a dispensationalist church, wrestling with this topic wasn't easy—but it was necessary.
