How I Verticut and Topdress My Backyard Putting Green

My DIY Bermuda putting green was getting thick, uneven, and ready for another round of maintenance. In this video, I mow it down, verticut the turf in two directions, clean up the debris, and topdress the entire green with play sand. Verticutting helps open dense warm-season turf, reduce excess material near the surface, and encourage Bermuda grass to grow back thicker. The sand topdressing helps smooth the surface, fill minor low spots, and improve the consistency of the putting green. I also share my experience using the SENIX electric dethatcher as a budget-friendly verticutting tool and use the Rocklin leveling rake to spread the sand evenly.
