Allowing is NOT Ignoring

When I talk about allowing symptoms, or being indifferent to them, I am not telling you to ignore them. Ignoring your symptoms is not something that I recommend. It's impossible to ignore them. Mind-body symptoms act as a warning signal from the brain and are designed to get our attention. You will always notice the symptoms. It's what you do next that is the important part. How you respond to the symptoms is key. Indifference and allowing are about acknowledging the symptoms and teaching the brain that they are not cause for concern. Show the brain that it can let them be and you do not need the warnings. It can be hard to get to this place of allowing right at the start, but with time you will be able to. When you know you're dealing with mind-body symptoms, you know that they're temporary and no cause for concern. The path to indifference is being a little less bothered each day.
