Parker 2520 XLD Mini Tour

The Parker 2520 XLD is a great boat, but with a few, easy to re-design, flaws. There are 20+ other videos on this channel that show the boat in many forms and details. I was looking for a Parker 2520 XLD as a replacement for a 35' CT Sundeck that I owned for 28 years. I wanted something smaller, easier to take care of, and something with a pilothouse for weather protection as my last three boats had at least one helm station protected. We boat year-round, and in any weather, and a pilothouse offers a dry, warm in winter/cool in summer, place from which to run the boat.... The #1 design flaw, IMHO, in the Parker's is the anchor locker that is not water sealed/not water-tight. If there was an overboard drain in the rode locker, this would be less of an issue. The water (mostly rain) that gets into the anchor locker is channeled all the way through the boat, through the pilothouse bilge, then under the gas tank, all the way to the aft bilge area. Mold and potential rot is the issue. Parker's require constant below deck cleaning, sponging and pumping because of the water (#1 mold creator) from the anchor locker keeping the bilges wet. My last 3 boats had bone-dry, clean, 'white-glove-test' clean bilges; not possible with the Parker so far..... #2 design flaw, IMHO, is the cleats are too small for the size of the boat, and the poor location of the mid-ship cleats; you can't reach them from the cockpit; and to be 'mid-ship', they should be 12"-18" further aft. The double steps on both sides of the cockpit are in the way and unnecessary. One step would suffice, and would leave a bit more floor space that would make it easier to reach the misplaced mid-ship cleats.....
