Prior Consultation in the colombian Amazon: dialogue with Indigenous Peoples to protect the forest

In the colombian Amazon, dialogue between the government and Indigenous Peoples is essential for protecting their territory and making decisions about its future. This video highlights the support provided by the Amazon Vision Program for the process of Free, Prior, and Informed Consultation, a space for intercultural dialogue that ensures community participation in initiatives affecting their territories. The GCF-Visión Amazonía Project, implemented by FAO Colombia in coordination with the Ministry of the Environment and IDEAM, accompanied and supported this process by providing technical, administrative, and financial support, and by facilitating the participation of Indigenous Peoples. Through testimonies from Indigenous leaders, traditional authorities, and institutions, the video highlights the importance of territorial governance, ancestral knowledge, and community participation in conserving Amazonian forests and building sustainable solutions to climate change.
