Life is finally starting to feel like it's becoming normal again, and having your sweet, loving girlfriend at your side has made everything so much more bearable. But tonight, at the end of your date, some creep on the street harasses her, and she's obviously upset. Seeing her like that makes it hard to maintain control... 🐺 Thank you to mvoluth for writing this! Nightshade's notes: When I first read this script, there was one part of it I wasn't expecting to identify with... but a lot has happened since then, and now I do. I'm talking about the part where the character describes going to the doctor and assuming the normal course of treatment will make everything fine, only to discover that their lives will be significantly changed from now on. You see, a month and a half ago, I realized that I suddenly couldn't hear anything out of one ear. I went to the doctor, and then the next doctor, and the next... and well, long story short, it seems that I am now permanently deaf in that ear. I am lucky compared to a lot of people, because my other ear is still working normally, and because I have experience in the Deaf world, but it has still been a difficult adjustment, and I'm still learning how to deal with the change. Audio editing is now more challenging, but it's something that I love, so I'm finding ways around it. I refuse to give up my binaural effects just because I can't hear them myself anymore! Working on the facial expressions for this was very interesting. When the character is catcalled, well, I thought it would be a challenge to illustrate her emotions through my art, but it came more naturally than I expected. Maybe because I, like most women, I suspect, am very familiar with the uncertainty and fear that comes with unwanted attention. Not knowing if it's harmless, someone who thinks they're paying a compliment, or if this is someone who might follow and harass you, or worse. And then the embarrassment at yourself because you're probably overreacting, right? This sort of thing happens all the time, doesn't mean anything, right? So you brush it off and paste on a smile... but you still feel a little less safe than you did a minute ago... I think this speaker is very lucky to have a partner who is so empathetic to her. I really like the mutually supportive, mutual protective relationship mvoluth created in this script. I am so glad to have you all here with me, my royal court and royal knights.
