The Story of the Founding of the MEKONGGA KINGDOM in Southeast Sulawesi. #historyofthearchipelago #HistoryoftheMekonggaKingdom #TolakiMekonggaKingdom History of the Mekongga Kingdom in Kolaka Regency In ancient times, Kolaka Regency was the territory of the MEKONGGA Kingdom, whose inhabitants were of the TOLAKI tribe (meaning brave people). In ancient times, the Southeast Sulawesi peninsula was known as "TANAH ALAU," meaning land of the east, because the people of South Sulawesi always saw the sun rise in the east. The original name of the Kolaka region was "WONUA SORUME," meaning land of orchids. This area was rich in shiny, golden-yellow orchids. These orchids were specially made for cigarette holders and other expensive items. In ancient times, only kings and nobles could afford to use various items made from these orchids. In the 14th century, two members of the Sawerigading family traveled to Southeast Sulawesi (Tanah Alau). The two brothers were Larumbalangi (male) and Wekoila (female). Wekoila is a nickname, consisting of "Kami" (female) and "Koila" (female). Wekoila was a beautiful princess, her skin as white as a koila. Wekoila's real name was Tenrirawe (We Tenrirawe). Larumbalangi founded the Mekongga kingdom, based in Wundulako, Ulu Balandete. Wekoila then continued to the Kendari region and founded the Konawe Kingdom. The government structure of the Mekongga Kingdom was as follows: (1) The Central Government of the Kingdom, consisting of (a) Mokole or Bokeo, the King; (b) Kapita, the iron fist of the Mokole; (c) Pabitara, the mouthpiece; (d) Sapati, responsible for general and household affairs; (2) Regional Rulers or Pu Tobu, who controlled several regions and whose duties were regulated by Osara (custom) within their jurisdiction; (3) Regional Rulers, each region headed by a Tonomotuo, who was approved by (a) Pabitara, who approved and resolved cases; (b) Tolea, who supported marriages/divorces; and (c) Posudo, who served as general assistants. History of the Development of the Mekongga Land Government The Mekongga Kingdom was located in mainland Southeast Sulawesi. The center of government or capital of the Mekongga Kingdom was originally located in Kolumba (Ulu Balandete), approximately six kilometers from present-day Kolaka City. However, as it developed, the center of government of the Mekongga Kingdom later moved to Puunaha (present-day Wundulako). The Mekongga Kingdom encompassed four jurisdictions (Siwole mbatohuuo), as follows: 1. The northern region was ruled by a Kapita resident in Balandete. 2. The eastern region was ruled by a Pabitara resident in Epe. 3. The southern region was ruled by a Putobuu resident in La Mekongga. 4. The western region was ruled by a Sapati resident in Lelewawo. #TheStoryOfTheEarlyFounding #MEKONGGAKINGDOMinSoutheastSulawesi Video source: Youtube LARUMBALANGI
