My Melody loves to bake, and one of her favorite desserts is cake. That's why there's no better way to celebrate her birthday than with supercute homemade cake pops! Join us as we get cookin'. Let's get started: Materials and Ingredients Needed: Cake 4 colors of fondant Candy melts A rolling pin Parchment paper Scissors A piping bag Sticks for cake pops A tiny paintbrush Chocolate chips Frosting (buttercream is our favorite) Toothpicks A decorating tip A scooper Optional Materials: A piece of styrofoam An edible marker A flower-shaped cutter for the fondant Step-by-step Instructions: (01:53) Step 1: Take your choice of cake and smash, smush, and crumble it into a medium-sized mixing bowl (2:00) Step 2: This is where the frosting comes in! Slowly start adding in a little bit of frosting, and keep blending until the cake and frosting mix have a consistency like Play-Doh (2:20) Step 3: Take your scooper to grab just enough cake and roll it into a ball using your hands (02:37) Step 4: To create My Melody, start with the pink candy melts; Microwave the melts on low to make sure they don't burn (02:55) Step 5: While the candy melts cool, dip the tip of the stick into the melted candy melt to make it easier on yourself and push the stick into the cake ball. This keeps the stick from coming loose! (03:00) Step 6: Use the opposite side of your paintbrush to push two holes into the top of the cake pop - that's where her ears will go (03:06) Step 7: Use cake to form her ears; My Melody's left ear is turned out slightly (03:13) Step 8: Dip the entire pop into the pool of candy melts and completely cover it: Drip off any excess candy melt and stick in the styrofoam to dry (03:30) Step 9: Repeat these steps for Hello Kitty using the chocolate chips for the ears and the white chocolate melts for her coloring (03:45) Step 10: Do the same for Keroppi using the green candy melts for his coloring (03:50) Step 11: After you dip the pops, put them in the refrigerator for around 30 minutes to cool (03:59) Step 12: While you wait for the cake pops to cool in the fridge, start preparing some of the signature details; Use your fondants to create My Melody's flower and Hello Kitty's red bow (04:29) Step 13: Once the pops are all set, take them out of the refrigerator and let the decorating begin (04:34) Step 14: For My Melody, form a piece of white fondant into an oval for her face. Attach her flower and her face using warm candy melt as glue; Use black fondant for her eyes and yellow for her nose (04:48) Step 15: Finally, draw her mouth with an edible marker (04:56) Step 16: It's time to finish up Hello Kitty! Use warm candy melt to stick her bow on (05:02) Step 17: Cut a piping bag and fill with warm, black candy melt to create Hello Kitty's eyes and whiskers (05:15) Step 18: Use a little bit of yellow fondant to create her nose (05:25) Step 19: It's Keroppi time! Use some white fondant for his eyes and black for his pupils; Paint on a little bit of water using your small paintbrush so that the pupils will stick to his eyes; Use green candy melt to hold his eyes to his face (05:50) Step 20: Use a little water to attach his pink fondant cheeks on (05:59) Step 21: Lastly, we're going to use black candy melt for his mouth. His mouth is a big "V," so that should be pretty easy to perfect Yay! You now have three supercute cake pops that are ready to eat or share with your friends and family!
