From medieval and modern mining, Fabian and Franzi travel far back in time. What do the region's underworlds hide? How did miners work in the Middle Ages? How did the Neanderthals live? And is there a grain of truth in the legend of the Altenberg? Fabian and Franzi answer these fascinating questions in conversation with experts from the LWL Archaeology Center and through their own experiences underground. At the same time, the episodes provide insight into the exciting daily work of archaeologists. The web series was produced by the LWL Media Center for Westphalia in cooperation with the LWL Archaeology Center for Westphalia and Famose Filmproduktionen from Bremen. "Westphalia's Underworlds" was filmed in locations including the Blätterhöhle cave near Hagen, on the Altenberg mountain, and in the Landeskrone mine in Siegerland, as well as at the LWL Museum of Archaeology and Culture in Herne. The episodes appear weekly, every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. here on the YouTube channel "Westfalen im Film."
