SONGS OF MY LIFE #1 [a worship album]

This year, in honor of my 50th birthday, I’m releasing a collection called “Songs of My Life.” Fifty original songs. Five albums. One for each decade of my life. Released month by month from June to October. This first album begins where I began: not with performance, not on a platform, but on a swing set in my backyard. I can still remember my 5-year-old body moving through air and sunlight, legs pumping rhythm into the sky—somehow I was learning how to pray through movement and melody. I would sing to God about whatever I saw, whatever I felt, whatever I experienced. I was worshiping before I really understood what worship was. This album flows from that simple place of worship that I have known for as long as I can remember. Some of these songs have lived for years in congregations and gatherings—carried by other voices but never being officially recorded or released. Some were written for specific communities, specific moments of longing, hope, lament, and joy. And some have never been shared at all—songs that have emerged from recent years of listening, prayer, and reflection. All songs on this project are original compositions written by me over many years. And, the recording is a collaboration, as I outsourced the instruments and vocals to give these songs a fuller musical expression. The styles move freely—rock, gospel, CCM—while underneath is the steady current of Scripture inspiring words and melody.
