It is located 36 km from Serpukhov and 70 km from Kaluga. The city has been designated a natural and architectural reserve due to its unique appearance: most of the buildings are single-story, built in the 19th century. The year Tarusa was founded is considered to be 1246. During its existence, Tarusa was the center of an appanage principality, and from the late 14th century, it was part of the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Sights: The Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul with its three-tiered bell tower, built in 1790. The Tsvetaeva Family Museum, which displays memorial furniture, tableware, and the personal belongings of the poet Marina Tsvetaeva. The V. A. Vatagin House-Museum, dedicated to the life and work of the animal painter. How to get there: There are several ways to get to Tarusa: By car: From Moscow, take the M-2 (Simferopolka) highway to the turnoff for Serpukhov, then continue through the city towards Tarusa. By bus: Direct buses from Moscow depart twice daily from the Novoyasenevskaya metro station; the journey takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. By commuter train: From Moscow, take the Kursky or Kalanchevskaya stations to Serpukhov, then take a bus to Tarusa (runs every half hour). There is a bus from the Bitsevsky Park - Novoyasenevskaya metro station to Tarusa, but very infrequently (currently, it runs twice a day - check the internet).
