L’interdiction du porc - De Rituel Païen à Tradition Religieuse

We're talking about the prohibition most respected by Jews and Muslims, but which, from a theological point of view, has no explanation, and which, from a logical point of view, makes no sense. Why is pork forbidden for consumption, when it doesn't alter conscience or judgment, and eating it doesn't harm anyone? Could it be because it's dirty and supposedly contains parasites? I discuss this idea in the podcast, but spoiler: no. In reality, if pork is forbidden, it is due to the influence of pagan religions but also to a desire on the part of the Israelites to distinguish themselves from another neighboring people, a practice that would have persisted. This prohibition, over time, was rejected by Christianity for theological and historical reasons that I discuss in the podcast, and which was later reinstated in Islam for historical reasons (also discussed in the podcast). ************ To also support me: https://fr.tipeee.com/le-miroir ************ Chapters: 00:00: Introduction 01:56: Why is pork forbidden in Judaism 08:07: Why is pork forbidden in Islam 11:44: Christianity is an exception to the rule 16:34: Is pork bad for your health? 21:57: The Development of Pork Culture in History 26:46: The Egyptian Origins of the Pork Ban 31:25: The Phoenician Origins of the Pork Ban 36:06: An Identity Based on the Pork Ban 40:07: A Desire to Stand Out for Christians 43:19: A Return to the Roots Among Muslims ************ Sources: Leviticus 11:7 Deuteronomy 14:8 Babylonian Talmud, Shulhan Aruch, Yoreh De'ah 81 Guide for the Perplexed 3, page 28 Don Isaac Abrabanel, Food Prohibitions Quran 5:7 Matthew 7:12 Acts 11:11, 15 Rom 3:27, 30 Colossians 2:16 Sylvia Vaisman, Pork Is Not Fatty, Contrary to Popular Belief Marvin Harris, Cannibals and Kings Max D.
