Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) Group CEO, Hery Gunardi, in an Economic Update confirmed BRI Group's readiness to support national economic growth, including through the priority programs of President Prabowo's administration. BRI has a system, branch office network, and BRIlink services spread across remote areas of Indonesia, supported by qualified human resources to stimulate the economy, including through the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR) and social assistance. BRI also ensures maintained business growth and credit quality when the BI Rate rises to 5.75%, considering that BRI's credit distribution under government programs such as KUR has a fixed rate. Nevertheless, the bank continues to strengthen risk management by optimizing promising sectors. In an effort to maintain long-term growth, BRI has implemented a transformation program to improve operational effectiveness and boost credit and non-credit income. This transformation aims to reduce the cost of funds and the cost of credit through optimizing branch office infrastructure, BRIlink services, enhancing BRImo programs and transactions, and bolstering merchant businesses. On the microcredit side, BRI is improving its business processes by leveraging technology, resulting in higher interest rates while reducing reserves. Furthermore, through BRIvolution Reignite, BRI is also promoting strategic initiatives to address the increasingly competitive challenges of the banking industry. BRI is also rebranding itself, ensuring it is not only a strong bank in rural areas but also capable of providing services in urban areas, targeting the consumer segment, including wealthy customers and private banking. BRI also continues to drive growth through business diversification. Regarding BBRI's plan to buy back shares of up to IDR 500 billion from June 12 to September 11, 2026, using the company's internal cash, Hery Gunardi stated that this strategy is part of the corporate response to stock market developments.
