The NBC Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Arturo Toscanini, is heard in a stirring performance of the Garibaldi Hymn, composed in 1858 by Alessio Olivieri and Luigi Mercantini. The spoken preface is by Walter Toscanini, son of the Maestro. Taken from the NBC broadcast of September 9, 1943, this recording was originally issued as V-Disc 31 and was never released on commercial records by RCA Victor.
