Almschwenden - Techniken zur Offenhaltung der Almen

Alpine pastures are cultural landscapes created by humans. The preservation of these landscapes is ensured through continuous "clearing." Clearing traditionally refers to methods used to keep alpine pastures open. On managed alpine pastures, plants that are not grazed by livestock are particularly able to spread. Because they are not grazed, they can reproduce via runners or seeds across the pasture. Clearing involves the targeted removal or suppression of these plants from the pasture.
