Poetry: Saifuddin Saif Voice, Music Composition, Arrangement & Production: DWBaig The Story Behind This Composition Back in 2010, during a visit to Gilgit-Baltistan to document local culture and produce audiovisual stories, I had the privilege of meeting the renowned Wakhi poet Saifuddin Saif for the first time . It was a cold winter day in Gilgit. We were sitting outside a small tea shop, sharing cups of tea and conversations about poetry and music,. That day, Saif Sahib shared many of his poems with me. Among them was "Zameen'i Sakht Mazhar, Osmon Baland'i Tsumer." He told me that he had originally written it on the legendary Mehdi Hassan's immortal composition "Gulon Mein Rang Bhare, Baad-e-Naubahar Chale." The poetry touched me deeply. In particular, the opening verse stayed with me for years. It lived quietly somewhere in my memory for almost five or six years. Then one day, quite unexpectedly, a melody arrived with that verse. The tune seemed to emerge on its own, and that moment became the beginning of this composition. I have been working on this song for a long time, refining and revisiting it whenever life allowed. Today, I am finally able to share it with you. In an age where perfectly tuned voices, this recording may not be technically perfect. But it is sincere. It comes from a place of admiration for a beautiful poem, respect for a poet. I only hope that I have done some justice to the beautiful poetry of one of my favourite Wakhi poets, Saifuddin Saif.
