Red Ear & Bluegill The Perfect Panfish Combination

Kentucky Lake delivers some of the finest Red Ear and Bluegill fishing in the South Eastern United States. Its has a booming population of both species as well as other sunfish. The shell cracker (Red Ear) is probably the most elusive fish swimming in the huge impoundment of 160,300 acres which futures over 2,300 miles of shoreline. My technique was casting a drop shot rig with both a Trout Magnet as well as a Sheltons Bluegill Bug. I would occasionally tip both with a red worm when the bite slowed. I was using two different B&M rods. One was a 7 ft Sam Heaton Super Sensitive along with a John Godwin Crappie Cast. The rods was outfitted with both Daiwa and Pflueger spinning reels. Using my Garmin and Humminbird electronics I was able to use side scan to locate the beds. I would then back off the bed and use the spot lock feature on my Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor to stay put.
