"Morality Is 'Arbitrary'" - Caller Tries to Trap Us, It Backfires

This call is a clip from an episode of Chewed Gum, a live call-in show that I co-host every Tuesday night at 7pm EST on ‪@qnaline‬ A caller phoned in specifically to challenge one of our video titles — "The Bible Is Gross" — arguing that calling anything "gross" or "good" or "bad" is just arbitrary, since morality is relative across different societies. So we walked him through it: if you think the Bible's stories are just fiction, sure, you can call them "gross" the same way you'd describe a disturbing scene in a movie. But if you think the Bible is historically true and divinely inspired — meaning God actually commanded the things described in it — that's a completely different conversation. He tried to have it both ways, and it did not go smoothly for him. We also get into why "you're cherry-picking verses" doesn't actually work as a defense once you've already said you don't believe the book is true in the first place. If you've ever gotten into this exact argument with someone, you know how circular it can get.
