Dual Analyte Quadrupole SP-ICP-MS for Quantifying Composition and Reaction Kinetics of Nanoparticles

Dual analyte quadrupole single particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (sp-ICP-MS) was established to simultaneously quantify two isotopes in individual nanoparticles. This novel technique was then applied to quantify the chemical composition and reaction kinetics of single bimetallic nanoparticles at a rate of 300+ nanoparticles per minute in situ. This elemental analysis method has the potential to transform the understanding of nanoparticle compositional evolution and transformation in environmental and biological milieus.
