How to Solve Two-Step Equations | 7.EE.B.4 đź’š

In this video lesson we will learn the steps to solving a two step algebraic equation. We will first learn how to represent the equation with algebra tiles. Then, we will model how to solve the equation using algebra tiles by creating zero pairs and dividing the tiles into equal groups. We will learn the two steps to solve an equation algebraically. We will learn to isolate the variable term first, followed by multiplying or dividing to find the value of x. We will CHECK all of our solutions for accuracy. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions. #twostepequations #solveequations #checksolutions Purchase an Editable Copy of the Google Slides used to create this video - https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P... www.magicofmath1.com https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/S... 00:00 Introduction 00:34 What is a Two-Step Equation? 01:29 What are Algebra Tiles? 02:07 How to Solve Using Algebra Tiles 04:23 Student Practice #1 05:46 The Steps to Solve a Two-Step Equation 06:20 Using the Steps to Solve 07:34 Student Practice #1 08:46 Solve a Two-Step Equation with Fractions 10:26 Student Practice #2 12:02 Solve an Equation with Decimals 13:44 Student Practice #3 Common Core Math Standard 7.EE.B.4 Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities. 7.EE.B.4.A Solve word problems leading to equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach.
