Finally Still (Mom's Song)

I wrote a song called Be Still. It is based on one of my favorite verses, Psalm 46:10. It was also my mom's favorite verse. My mom turned 86 on July 1st so I re-wrote my song for her. My mom loves the sun, water, and beach. This song refers to a moment growing up when we were on vacation in Ft. Myers. I was young, but already developed a love for the sea and its creatures. I was distraught that tourist would collect sand dollars and starfish; I wondered if they knew they were living creatures. So I would get up very early and go down to the beach and find all the sand dollars and starfish that were visible on the beach and hide them in the rocky areas near the jetty so the tourist could not find them. My mom walked with me as I carried out my mission, never once questioning the futility of it. Her love for the beach has never wavered; it is a place that has always brought her peace.
