So the moment has come when my Vesta Cross Sedan had its old, oil-guzzling 21179 engine replaced with a new one. I'll say right away that I've determined not to expect anything, but to carefully test it and monitor its performance and oil level. From there, I'll make decisions about further action based on the results. Let me remind you how it all started: after purchasing a Vesta 1.8 in September 2018, I first noticed a drop in oil level at 2,000 km. It was consuming approximately 100-200 grams. This consumption continued for up to 30,000 km. I had my second maintenance check, and after 3,000 km, I noticed the oil level had dropped to the minimum mark on the dipstick, right below the lowest line. I drove 1,000 km, and oil consumption was within the brutal AvtoVAZ standard of 700 grams per 1,000 km. But then I was contacted by the guys who had created their own group dedicated to oil consumption issues and asked to make and post a video about cylinder head malfunction—crankcase gases were leaking out, and oil was getting into the engine ventilation. You can see all of this in detail in the video, linked above. The guys started inventing and tinkering with their own ventilation system, or rather, an addition to the original one, and I, in turn, decided to solve my problem with the help of the warranty, accordingly, I did not make any implementations myself, so as not to fly off it. In general, after the measurement, which was normal, I decided to file a claim, since I did not like the statements of the engineer, who said that half a liter per 1000 km and oil getting into the ventilation is normal, although the Vesta AvtoVAZ operating manual says that you can not add oil to the maximum, since oil will get into the engine ventilation, and this is a violation of its operation and harm to the environment. In the end, I did not file a claim, since I spoke with the head of the service and agreed to carry out the measures again, only the measurement was done using a scale. In the end, the second measurement showed a consumption of 1.2 liters per 1000 km, the problem worsened sharply, I was assigned an engine defect analysis with replacement of the cylinder head, oil pump and liner, details In this video:    • Веста 1.8 Дефектовка двигателя 21179 по пр...   After the work was done, they filled the oil to the halfway level and I started driving the car, checking the oil level every 200 km. Up until 1000 km, the oil level remained steady, and I was already happy that the problem was solved and that a faulty cylinder head was the cause. However, my joy was short-lived; we drove to the mountainous town of Zlatoust, where after just 200 km, the oil level began to drop again. We added oil, and after about 200 km, it ate it again. I went there, they topped up the oil, sealed the engine, and I started driving 1,000 km again.
