Avances en la restauración del Templo de Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles, Ciudad de México

On September 19, 2017, an earthquake cracked a section of the dome of the Church of Our Lady of the Angels, making it resemble a dome open to the sky. Immediately after the earthquake, the General Directorate of Sites and Monuments of Cultural Heritage of the Federal Ministry of Culture undertook the task of assessing the extent of the damage and commissioned Sackbé, a company specializing in the restoration of heritage buildings, to conduct an analysis to define the intervention project. Subsequently, the National Coordination of Historical Monuments of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) took over the project to work on the restoration of this beloved church. The process of restoring historic buildings requires patience, dedication, and meticulous analysis. Once the resources from the Natural Disaster Fund (FONDEN) are available, the first phase of the work is likely to begin this year.
