The rich history of the Avondale College Samoan Group

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Polyfest I was tasked with creating a mini doco commemorating the pioneers behind the Avondale College Samoan group and how they built their success on the Samoan stage at Polyfest. This video is close to my heart being a past member from 2008-2011 and with the pioneer behind this group being my mother. Thank you mum for sharing your story and for being a visionary in our Samoan and Avondale community. Thank you to all tutors, teachers and support staff for your hard work, and commitment put into this group behind the scenes and to all the students past and present for the cultural pride you display on stage and for continuing the legacy of the Avondale College Samoan group. RIL: Phill Raffills (Principal 1987-1999)) Taupouono Betham (First Tutor) Rev. Faiumu Faletua’i (Pese O Le Aso/Fuataimi Tutor) Tomasi Fonotoe (Taupo/Taualuga tutor) Melanie Sagala-Timoteo (Teacher in Charge 2003-2014) Esther Kemp (Second Teacher in Charge) Roberta Stevenson (Second Teacher in Charge) Enjoy!
