Black Dahlia: Ask Me Anything, July 2025

Welcome! I do the Ask Me Anything on the Black Dahlia case on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. Pacific time on YouTube and Instagram. APOLOGIES! The live chat "was unavailable." I have no idea why. In case you’re new: I do the Ask Me Anythings because I got tired of the low quality of the “true” crime TV shows and podcasts. This is only Black Dahlia questions. I started another Ask Me Anything on George Hodel and Steve Hodel on the third Tuesday of the month, in this case, July 15, at 10 a.m. on YouTube and Instagram. Today, only Dahlia questions. No George Hodel questions. I usually get a troll, and I’ll report them. I will alternate between live questions and submitted questions. I’ll talk for about an hour and the time should go quickly! The next Dahlia session will be August 5, 2025 at 10 a.m. Pacific time on YouTube and Instagram. This time I gave a progress report on the book and discussed all the books that lie about the Black Dahlia case: Will Fowler's "Reporters," John Gilmore's "Severed," Steve Hodel's "Black Dahlia Avenger" franchise, Donald Wolfe's "The Black Dahlia Files," Piu Eatwell's "Black Dahlia, Red Rose" and Eli Frankel's "Sisters in Death. I also discussed Aggie Underwood's "Newspaperwoman," as it was ghostwritten by Foster Goss and advances a number of mistakes and misconceptions about the Black Dahlia crime scene and Underwood being "pulled off the story." Not lying, though problematic, are "Daddy Was the Black Dahlia Killer," by Janice Knowlton and Michael Newton, and Mary Pacios' "Childhood Shadows." I responded to questions about: --Peter Vetcher's claims of a one-night stand with Elizabeth Short, as claimed in the FBI file on Black Dahlia case. (Do NOT buy the FBI file on EBay. You can download it for free from the FBI website). --Whether I've read the Police Gazette article on the Black Dahlia case. --Was Elizabeth Short raped or assaulted? --Isn't it possible that Elizabeth Short got on the wrong bus and ended up in San Diego instead of the Bay Area? --How do you know Matt Gordon killed himself? --Did Elizabeth Short ever laugh at a soldier? What is the source of that story? --Is Myrl McBride's story about meeting Elizabeth Short accurate? --Why does Patrick O'Reilly keep popping up in the list of suspects?
