Cuatro Ciénegas is a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) in the Coahuila desert, famous for its crystal-clear pools, gypsum dunes, and unique biodiversity. Cuatro Ciénegas de Carranza is located in the heart of the state of Coahuila, surrounded by desert and mountains, at approximately 740 meters above sea level. Its name comes from the ancient wetlands or "ciénegas" that formed four large spring areas. It was officially founded in 1800 and is the birthplace of Venustiano Carranza, president of Mexico from 1915 to 1921.
