Leslie's Tips Episode 6: Shocking and Oxidizing 101 | Leslie's
If you've ever wondered why you should shock your pool, or even what pool shock is — this is the video for you! We will discuss why it's important to shock your pool, and how shock helps keep your pool clean and clear. The chlorine level in your pool fluctuates due to bather load and contaminant levels. The more unwanted material and microorganisms in your pool, the less effective your chlorine will be. Contaminants, like ammonia, bind to the chlorine particles and form Combined Available Chlorie, or chloramines. Chloramines emit an overwhelming chlorine smell and cause eye and skin irritation. Many people assume the smell and feel of chloramines means their pool is clean — but it's actually quite the opposite. Chloramines indicate ineffective chlorine, and an unsanitized pool. That's when pool shock comes in handy. Pool shock neutralizes harmful bacteria and microorganisms by increasing the chlorine content, and breaking down chloramines. This process releases Free Available Chlorine, which allows the primary sanitizer to work effectively. ℹ️ Check out our blog for more information on how to use pool shock: https://leslies.site/sfc https://leslies.site/xqx #poolshock #shockingapool #poolcare #lesliespool #poolmaintenance #howto 🛍 Featured Products: ● Power Powder Plus Shock: https://leslies.site/dmn ● Chlor Brite Shock: https://leslies.site/a3u ● Fresh N' Clear Shock: https://leslies.site/1oj ● Test Strips: https://leslies.site/868 ● Test Kits: https://leslies.site/50u 🛒 Visit our website and shop our wide selection of pool, spa, and outdoor products: https://leslies.site/ab9fa6 🎓 Check out our Resource Center for informative articles on pool maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, water care, and much more: https://leslies.site/yir 🙋🏻♂️ Stop by your local Leslie's to speak with one of our friendly pool experts: https://leslies.site/nsz ✅ Click SUBSCRIBE so you never miss one of our helpful and informative videos!
