January 2026 - Lapland Äkäslompolo in Winter Welcome to episode 6 of our Lapland trip here on my YouTube channel! 🇫🇮❄️ In this episode, the absolute highlight of our trip awaits me: a snowmobile tour up Mount Ylläs. The starting point is once again the SnowFun Safari base in Äkäslompolo. After being kitted out with warm clothing and receiving a short briefing, we set off on an approximately four-hour tour through the snowy winter landscape of Lapland. It quickly becomes clear: the weather couldn't have been better. Brilliant sunshine, blue skies, and along the way, we encounter the so-called "popcorn trees" (tykky) – trees completely encased in snow and ice, a typical sight in Lapland during the depths of winter. The starting point is once again the SnowFun Safari base in Äkäslompolo. After being outfitted with warm clothing and receiving a short briefing, we embark on an approximately four-hour tour through the snowy winter landscape of Lapland. We made our way up the mountain by snowmobile, passing breathtaking landscapes, until we finally reached the summit of Ylläs – with a view I hadn't expected. For me personally, that was the most beautiful day of our entire Lapland trip. In the end, we headed back to base camp – with many unforgettable memories.
