Oksydowanie stali na gorąco w kąpieli zasadowej

My (successful!) experience with applying an oxidation coating to steel objects. A bath in a solution of sodium hydroxide (sodium hydroxide NaOH, potassium lye, the main ingredient in "Mole") and potassium nitrate KNO3 (available in grocery or garden centers). WARNING: The procedure presented assumes contact with boiling chemicals, including corrosive hydroxide. Eye, face, hand, and respiratory protection are absolutely essential – perform this procedure only outdoors, or in a laboratory (industrial) fume hood. Unfortunately, the kitchen fume hood is too weak. The 1940 manual from which the process is derived: https://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/Leg...
