Today's video is about a walking tour along one of Frankfurt's popular shopping streets, Grosse Bockenheimer. And although it is winter now, the outdoor tables at restaurants are not as full as in summer, the street is not as crowded, but still, a walk is supposed to be interesting. It's interesting to just walk around here, looking at the shop windows and the architecture of the buildings. Grosse Bockenheimer is an upscale shopping street in the center of Frankfurt, located in the Bankenviertel business district. The street is a wide pedestrian zone between Opernplatz and Hauptwache. It also forms a direct continuation of the Zeil. It is also known as the city's main culinary street. The construction of this street dates back to the Middle Ages (13th-1 4th century). The former name of this street was Fressgass. There were many grocery stores, bakeries and butcher shops here. This made it the most famous street with grocery stores serving the local population of Westend. This street often hosts street food festivals. Since 1978, the Rheingau Wine Festival has been held at the end of summer. Today, Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse is home to flagship stores, fashion boutiques, specialty grocery stores and restaurants .We will start our journey at Hauptwache and head towards Opernplatz.
