S.O.S TATA - La famiglia Trinchese (stagione 5)

The parenting philosophies of mother Chiara and father Giovanni couldn't be more different: father is impatient, extremely strict, meticulous, demanding, and a quick slapper; mother is sweet, sensitive, submissive, and accommodating (though occasionally exasperated by the children's constant mischief). Chiara admits she's reached a point where she's no longer sure what the most appropriate parenting strategy is. While she completely disagrees with her husband's approach, she also recognizes that Andrea and especially Antonio constantly test them: yelling, tantrums, tantrums over going to bed or sitting at the table for more than two minutes, daily arguments, and even punches... Most of the time, the one on the receiving end of Giovanni's scolding is Antonio, with whom his father, by his own admission, has a rather conflictual relationship, which leads him to be prejudiced toward the child. This arouses in Antonio a strong sense of jealousy toward Andrea, manifested not only through his actions but often also through words ("You only care about him," "You always take it out on me"...). Although Chiara and Giovanni try to find common ground between their different parenting approaches, they consistently remain at a standstill, as neither of them seems to be budging from their positions.
