Revisione delle protesi, intervista al dott. Piero Cavaliere

Regarding the need for revision hip and knee replacements, Medicalive Magazine interviewed Dr. Piero Cavaliere, director of the Orthopedic Institute for Southern Italy, with offices in Messina and Reggio Calabria. Over the past 40 years, millions of Italians have undergone hip and knee replacements, a surgical procedure that has improved patients' quality of life by reducing pain, improving range of motion, and increasing activity levels. Prosthetic surgery is a successful technique, but approximately 10% of implants will fail and require a second surgery, called "revision." This involves removing the old implants and replacing them with new ones. Prosthetic revision surgery is a complex and delicate technique that requires preoperative planning and, above all, the use of innovative materials.
