Out Of Control GSP Puppy Transformed In 6 Days

Well Peeps! Goose has headed home and is back with his owners with an unbelievable obedience foundation built on respect, impulse control, and a calmer state of mind. In one week we were able to accomplish tasks with this pup that would normally be reserved for a two week board and train! We talked about how Goose will continue to need further shaping until he is completely trustworthy around all of his current triggers. The key to all of this is in rewarding the behavior we want her to display, and holding him accountable for any brattiness or shenanigans he was privy to in the past. Owning a new puppy is all about patterning your dog for the behavior you desire. This involves heavy micro management, implementing a ton of structure, restricting freedoms to come and go as they please, and holding them accountable for anything unsavory. We provide this type of guidance and instruction until the behavior has been so patterned that it becomes habitual. We discussed how micromanaging all of Goose’s choices until they become habitual is the goal for the next couple of months until he starts defaulting into making good choices on his own. At no point should a puppy be allowed to make its own choices. You wouldn’t leave a four year old child home alone to make decisions on their own now would you? Goose is well on his way to having that amazing bond all of us dog owners crave with our pets! I am so thrilled for his owners to experience the true nature of this sweet little nugget! And we can’t wait to have him back for full, off leash training!
