Essai MG4 Urban : j’ai trouvé le piège… mais je la conseille

The new MG4 EV Urban arrives with a promise that smacks of both a great deal and a hidden catch: offering the price of an electric city car, but the features of a true family compact. On the agenda: up to 416 km of WLTP range, a 54 kWh LFP battery, 160 hp, a 480-liter trunk, surprising interior space, comprehensive equipment, a heat pump, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 3.3 kW V2L function… and above all, a launch price starting at €19,990, with a top-of-the-range Premium version around €25,490. So, naturally, one question arises: what's the catch? To find out, we headed to the Basque Country, between Biarritz, the Atlantic waves, mountain roads, white and red villages, and a few winding roads that revealed whether this MG4 Urban is only good for fuel economy… or also for putting a smile on your face. In this review, we discuss design, interior, ergonomics, interior space, trunk space, comfort, handling, real-world fuel consumption, fast charging, price, equipment, and its competition with the Renault Mégane E-Tech, Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born, Kia EV4, Peugeot e-208, Renault 5 E-Tech, and other electric vehicles that are starting to look at their price lists with a bead of sweat. Is the MG4 Urban a true killer of European electric compact cars? Is it too good to be true? Or simply imperfect, but incredibly recommendable? Find out in this review.
