"Church Fathers" History or Authority?
In this episode of the Biblical Christianity Podcast, we discuss the writings of early Christian men from the post-apostolic period through the Nicene and post-Nicene age. These men lived closer to the apostles than we do, but proximity does not equal inspiration, and history does not equal authority. We examine the value of early Christian writings, how they can serve as historical witnesses, and why they must always be judged by the final standard of Scripture. We also discuss examples involving elders and deacons, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, Ignatius, Clement, Polycarp, Cyprian, and the gradual rise of departures from the apostolic pattern. #biblicalchristianitypodcast #ChurchFathers #BibleAuthority #ApostolicDoctrine #ChurchHistory #Restoration #newtestament
